[PRINTER FRIENDLY VERSION]
Policy

on Subsidizing Professional and Leadership Development and Education

Purpose:
Promulgate the policy and guidance for the Board of Directors to develop
a budget for Chapter Professional and Leadership Development Education
activities and to consider supplemental items for funding.

Policy and Guidance:
Core knowledge areas of the PMI Leadership Institute are:

1) Association Governance

2) PMI Institutional Knowledge

3) Individual Leadership Development

Based on the mission of PMI and the CRBC-PMI, focus of the Leadership Institute, and guidance of the Policies Manual, it is appropriate for the Board ofDirectors to approve expenditure of Chapter funds to support Professional and Leadership Development and Education activities for either Board members or Chapter members.

The following are the general categories of training for either Board members or the Chapter membership that may be considered for full or partial funding:

1) Chapter Governance and Leadership, including attendance at PMI Leadership Institute and Regional Conferences.

2) Technical skills required to perform duties of Officer and Board members, such as specific software programs to support communications or fiduciary responsibilities.

3) Project Management, Leadership, and Communications skills.

Priorities for Budgeting and Funding of Supplemental Items:

Within each of the above categories, Chapter priorities in establishing budget line items or contingency amounts or when considering supplemental items are:

1) PMI sponsored or affiliated courses or other provider training (such as Microsoft product training or other training to support a specific Officer’s duty) designed to improve the ability of the Board of Directors to meet their duties and provide service to the membershp.

2) PMI sponsored conferences and meetings to improve Governance and Leadership of the Chapter.

3) Courses, either PMI sponsored orother provider, that are primarily devoted to development of the requesting individual’s knowledge, skills, and abilities, which are deemed by the Board of Directors to have significant concurrent valueto the Chapter, in leadership, governance, or program development and delivery. Evaluation will be on a case basis based on the above guidance and a documented request for funding from either a Board member or Chapter member that outlines the expected benefits to the CRBC-PMI to be derived from sponsorship of the training.
